Pixlr is an online photo editing and design platform with tools such as Pixlr Editor, Pixlr Express, AI tools, templates and mobile apps. It also sells paid plans such as Pixlr Plus for people who want more features.
Does Pixlr have a teacher discount?
Yes. Pixlr runs its own programme called Pixlr for Education. Instead of a percentage off, it gives approved schools and educators free access at no cost. Pixlr describes it as free Pixlr for schools, educators and students alike.
What approved schools get
- An ad-free experience
- Access to AI tools
- Limited access to Pixlr Editor and Pixlr Express
- Access to the Pixlr mobile apps
- Ready-to-use templates, overlays, icons and decorative text
Pixlr says there is currently no limit on the number of accounts or school domains that can be approved.
Who qualifies
The programme is open to educators, teachers and administrators at recognised educational institutions, plus qualified education-related NGOs. It is aimed at secondary school (high school) level and above. Pixlr does not accept applications from individual students, so a teacher or administrator applies on behalf of the school.
How to apply
- Create a Pixlr account using your school or institution email address.
- Fill in the Pixlr for Education application form. One valid staff representative applies per school.
- Provide proof of your role, such as a clear scan of your teacher ID card showing your name and occupation, or an officially signed document confirming you are a teacher.
- Allow around 48 hours for the registration to be processed.
Once approved, your school domain is whitelisted and staff and students who sign up with that school email domain get the free access.
