11.11 falls on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, but on most marketplaces the sale started well before that. AliExpress opened its 11.11 Global Shopping Festival on November 1, Shopee Singapore began on October 30 and Tmall in China opened presales in mid-October. This guide sets out each platform's 2026 dates, explains how the coupons, vouchers and coins actually work, and helps you decide what to buy on 11.11 and what to leave for Black Friday. What Is 11.11, and Why Is It Called Singles Day?
Singles Day started in China in the 1990s as an informal celebration for people who were not in a relationship, chosen because the date is written with four ones. In 2009 Alibaba turned it into an online shopping event on Taobao and Tmall, and it has since grown into the biggest shopping festival in the world by sales. Chinese platforms recorded about RMB 1.695 trillion, roughly US$238 billion, across the Double 11 period in 2025, according to the research firm Syntun. Today AliExpress, Shopee, Lazada and many other marketplaces run their own 11.11 sales for shoppers outside China.
When Does the 11.11 Sale Start in 2026?

Sale times follow each platform's local time zone, so a voucher that drops at midnight in Singapore goes live in the late afternoon of the previous day in Europe.
How Do AliExpress 11.11 Discounts Work?
AliExpress runs its 11.11 sale as one long 18-day event rather than a single day, so there is no need to wait until November 11 to check out. The discounts come in several layers:
- Sale prices. Products in the 11.11 sale are already marked down. Brand+ stores have published ranges such as 16% to 63% off Li-Ning sportswear, 32% to 60% off 70mai car accessories and 35% to 50% off Sofirn and Wurkkos lights.
- PayPal discount. Eligible shoppers who pay with PayPal can get up to 14% extra off during the event.
- New shopper bundle. Eligible new customers can buy three qualifying items for $0.99 in total.
- Coupons and coins. AliExpress hands out sitewide coupons, store coupons and coins in the app. Store coupons only work in the store that issued them, and coupons are first come, first served, so collect them before you check out.
- Saver Membership. Members get more than $40 in coupons every month, which also work during 11.11.
Before you pay, open the order summary and check which coupons were applied. A coupon with a minimum spend only works when your items reach the threshold, and a store coupon only counts the items from that store.
Will an 11.11 Order Arrive Before Christmas?
Usually, if you order during the sale. Items sold under AliExpress Choice and Brand+ come with free shipping and free returns on eligible orders. AliExpress also says about 95% of the items available to US shoppers are covered by its Fast Delivery guarantee, which gives a compensation coupon when a qualifying order arrives late and a full refund for eligible orders that are lost, damaged or too late. Check the estimated delivery date on the product page before you order, and look for the Choice label if timing matters. How Many Shopee Vouchers Can You Use on One Order?
Shopee lets you use one voucher of each main type on a single order, so up to three in total:
- A free shipping voucher. You have to claim and apply it yourself, and unused ones lapse.
- A Shopee voucher. A platform-wide discount, such as the S$111 off S$350 flash vouchers on Shopee Singapore on November 10 and 11.
- A seller voucher. A shop or product voucher from the seller, which applies automatically when your cart meets its conditions. Only one seller voucher counts per order.
Shopee Coins are separate from vouchers. You switch them on at checkout, and in Singapore 100 coins are worth S$1. Shopee Singapore also gives ShopeeVIP subscribers an extra 3% cashback during 11.11, a draw for an electric SUV with one entry for every S$30 spent, and same-day delivery on eligible Fulfilled by Shopee orders placed before 12 pm.
Shopee Indonesia and Lazada Philippines
Shopee Indonesia is running its 11.11 Big Sale campaign in the app, building up to November 11. On both apps, claim vouchers a day before the sale, because popular ones run out.
Shopping Taobao's Double 11 From Outside China
Taobao is pushing Double 11 abroad this year, with the campaign running in 20 markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong. The rules are simpler than before. Instead of cross-store vouchers such as spend RMB 300, save RMB 50, each item now carries an official instant discount at checkout with no minimum spend. For overseas buyers, Taobao offers tiered delivery of one, three or six days depending on the market, flat-rate shipping on bulky items in 10 markets and local returns in 13 markets.
Is 11.11 Cheaper Than Black Friday?
It depends on where you shop. For AliExpress, Shopee, Lazada and Taobao, 11.11 is the biggest sale of the year, with the deepest platform vouchers, and AliExpress's sale ends on November 18, before Black Friday on November 27. Western retailers such as Walmart, Best Buy and Target save their biggest discounts for Black Friday instead. How to Spot a Fake 11.11 Discount
- Add items to your wishlist now. Note today's price, then compare it with the 11.11 price. A real deal is lower than the price a week or two before the sale, not just lower than a crossed-out price.
- Compare the final total. Shipping, taxes and the coupon minimum spend all change the real price, so compare what you pay at checkout.
- Check the seller. On marketplaces, look at the store rating, number of orders and recent reviews before buying from a shop you do not know.
- Be wary of very cheap branded items. Official brand stores, Brand+ on AliExpress and Shopee Mall are safer for well-known brands.
